Here is Muller family from France. Father is a policeman and mother is a nurse with two kids. The older is named Melissa, seven years old. The younger, in the stroller, only one year old. However, they barely can speak English. Luckily enough, the writer, who is also the translator can speak a little bit of French so we could communicate up to a certain level.
The whole family come to travel in Thailand once in a while when they have a vacation. They have been to a lot of provinces in Thailand such as Chiang mai, Koh Chang, Koh Samui, Phuket, and other places and gradually learned to eat Thai food and experienced Thai culture through travelling. They loved Thailand so much that they had to come back again.
They chose Hom hostel and cooking club because the incredible rating on the internet. They remarked that it is very near the Nana BTS skytrain which is in the middle of Bangkok. Plus it is a family-friendly hostel recommended in the website. So they decided to come here to give it a try.
They joined the cooking demo on the day that the chef made a special and rare menu called stir fried squid with salted duck egg. The reason why it was rare because the chef cooked this the first time since he worked here. While he was cutting the squid into line pattern, the father asked why the chef had to make such pattern. He replied that it was to make the squid look much more appetizing. He also added to the question about duck egg, why not chicken one. The reason to use duck egg combined with milk was to make the sauce more creamy.
The family, including Melissa (the older one) watched the cook demo carefully. Finally after only 20 minutes, everything was perfectly done. We can tell that the chef is exclusively an expert.
All of the Muller family tasted the food and just said “Umm, c’est délicieux!”
Well, that exactly means, it’s delicious.
